Located in Te Uru’s street-front window on Titirangi Road, the sculpture Deuce is a unlikely mascot to the installation THROWN.
Deuce is a 3D-printed action-form, captured by virtual reality modelling software. The sculpture further questions the nature of art objects by capturing the moment an object is thrown through time and space. While the title of this work is a humorous reference to the sporting theme of Charlton’s installation, it also dwells upon the fact that there are two elements required to fully complete the exhibition: the sculptures and you, the audience. Deuce. Thus, Deuce gets to the core of Charlton’s sculptural intention by revealing the ontological question: how do we exist in relation to art objects? |
